Hi, Can the Cisco 6260 support ADSL2 G.992.3 (ADSL2+)G.992.5 ??? If not what is a good box to use? I see Paradyne has the 12000 series etc... EuroBSDCon 2005 in Basel, Switzerland, Program and Registration

The EuroBSDCon 2005 organizers are pleased to announce that the conference program and schedule are now defined and online registration on our website is now open. This year's EuroBSDCon will take place from Nov. 25 till Nov. 27. at the University of Basel, Switzerland. The conference will start with the now traditional tutorial day on Friday, offering a selection of five very interesting tutorials aimed at developers, system administrators and BSD users in general. On Saturday and Sunday the technical conference with three plenary sessions and twenty high-level talks will give an overview on the current state of the art. A social event, dubbed "The Night of the Living Dead", on Saturday night in one of Basel's well-known cellars near the conference venue, will round-up the program with a dinner and bars and give attendees the possibility to discuss in a relaxed atmosphere. Layer 3 Switch Recommendations

Hi all, We are looking for an L3 edge switch with the following specifiacations: Must have: - 128 MB Ram - BGP4 - VLAN, Dot1q etc. (normal Layer 2 features) - 4 GBIC slots - 8 to ... 10/100/1000 Ports - not too expensive Nice to have: - 256 / 512 MB Ram or expansion slots - Cisco CLI ;-) (for the lazy sysadmin) - small box, 1HE is best Cisco C3560 with EMI would do the job, but I guess there are other boxes on the market with a better value-for-money ratio. We are also checking Foundry FastIron FX424HF, but has a 1.5 HE form factor. Enterasys X-Pedition 2100 has only 8x SX ports, but no standard 10/100/1000 Ethernet. Any other suggestions? F.

PDF open problem

Hi there! It may be off-topic, but i wanna give it a try since this may be a webserver (Apache) configuration issue. One of our web developers is running crazy about the following situation: He has a php script that delivers a pdf file to the customer. The customer has the choice to "open" (in browser windows) or "save as..." (a file on the local disk). The php script declares the data stream as application/octet-stream to force the "open" / "save as..." dialog box in IE. When klicking "save as", the file is stored correctly to the disk. When "open"ing it, acrobat reader opens and tells "unable to finde the file". Changing the mime-type to application/pdf results in the pdf being opened correctly in the browser window, but the user has no "save as" prompt. Any ideas? Thank you & best wishes, Matthias

International panel on data retention in Montreux

Sorry for this non-technical mail, but I guess the "damocles sword" of data retention is quite an issue for all ISPs. I would like to draw your attention to a unique international panel on data retention, which takes place before the annual International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners in Montreux. You can also propose a speaker from your organisation for the panel, which could ensure the ISP's voice is heard too. If you are interested, reply soon to Daniel Boos of SIUG (daniel.boos /at\ siug.ch). The panel on data retention is during the afternoon of 13 September in the Montreux Conference Center and is organised jointly by European Digital Rights (EDRI), Swiss Internet User Group (SIUG), Communica-ch, Electronic Privacy Information Centre (EPIC) and others.
