Hey all
A friend just told me that Cybernet told him there is a Switzerlandwide Internet Problem.
Does anybody know something?
Cheers
Michele

Hallo zusammen,

Greetings from sunny Basel (o;
Has someone a good name for a web application which does the following?
- inventory of network devices (routers/switches/firewalls etc.)
- documentation of installation (sites/buildings/rooms/racks/patch
panels)
- connection inventory (circuits/links/vlans/ips)
- iphone optimised web interface for onsite quering data
- based on mysql/php/ajax
So far I came up only with:
- Vaijeri (inherited from living three years in finland ;o)
- PMC (poor man's cramer, but this would wake up some lawyers ;o)
cheers

hi there
i'm just looking if someone knows a _simple_ way / tool:
- should be a POP3 AND IMAP server
- it should accept ANY username / password
- it should present ONE predefined email to the customer (to inform him about something) - if the customer later is trying to get mails he should not get it again (per username base)
- it should be opensource ,-) - and should preferably run on FreeBSD
does someone knows about some application which fits my requirements?
-steven

I got a 2 pair copper and I am looking for a product to offer Ethernet connectivity at speed of 4mbps or higher. Distance is about 1km and the copper is in the same local loop.

Not sure about differences in countries, but here we use Adtran's TA-5000 with the 838 at the CPE:

look here:

or here:

we are using it in our own colocation/unbundling
pops in austria - this is really working fine and
delivers up to carrier class Ethernet
bandwith depends on the copper quality - but
at 1 km there should be more than 10 mbit on
two copper pairs possible.
I can also give you a contact with our dsl specialist
if you need deeper informations.

Hi Guys,
I got a 2 pair copper and I am looking for a product to offer Ethernet connectivity at speed of 4mbps or higher. Distance is about 1km and the copper is in the same local loop.
Any Ideas?
Cheers,
Reza

yeah, true. the IMAP client might think all remote messages are gone, and then
flush the local cache... not nice :)
then we just need the protocol handling part from Courier, and report an error
message to the user immediately after connect.
But anyway, Steven, why do you want to block pop/imap on a hotspot?

Hallo,
Machte in meinen Ferien wieder mal eine kleine Statistik der Spams von

Does some have any guidance as to how much S/N margin Swisscom requires
for their BBCS VDSL loops. I have a case where the S/N margin in 22dB on
the downstream and it surprises me the line doesn't train at a higher
rate (current rate is 13264kbps).
I understand that during the initial setup phase the modem is probed
more or less every 24 hours but doesn't seem to update if the line
characteristics evolve over time.
If someone can shed some light or provide me with a contact within
Swisscom that actually knows the story behind this I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Thomas
