Hey all
A friend just told me that Cybernet told him there is a Switzerlandwide Internet Problem.
Does anybody know something?
Cheers

Not really. Yesterday we got quite little spam:

but the tendency is still towards more spam every day.

Hi SwiNOGers,
We need an old Cisco router for dial-in access to serve 2-5 users. I
want to use BRI not a PRI interface. 2 lines are enough for these max. 5
customers. solution should serve ISDN and modem users as well.
I don't have much experience with dail-in access routers. Any
suggestions welcome :-)
Does anyone have something like this for sale?
Cisco 3620 (or similar) with
- Mica Modem Modules
- BRI Interface
- 1 Ethernet Interface
budget is ~300 CHF. hope this is a realistic price otherwise correct me
pls :-)
Thanks in advance and best regards
Marco
Hello All
Even the bluewin support suggested I should ask here as this could lead to a
quicker answer that to wait for them to find out...
Usualy our recommendation for customers having their email address hosted @
$otherISP, is to ask the support of $otherISP how they enable SSL and
SMTP-Auth so they can use 'their' server.
This worked fine for allmost all ISP.
BlueWin has also published instructions how to configure a mail client on:
www.stopspam.ch
Now this stopped working for some of our customers. We directed them to the
Bluewin Hotline so Bluewin could check with them what went wrong.
Bluewin directed them back to our customer service, pretending smtp-auth would
not be supported on the Bluewin mailservers.
So I called Bluewin myself to check that statement... It was more or less
confirmed. Bluewin apparently has added ip-range restrictions to
smtpauth.bluewin.ch so it is not usable anymore from some ip-ranges (like
ours and freesurf I was told).
Anyone here from bluewin tech to confirm this and explain why?
Mit freundlichen Grüssen
Benoit Panizzon

I ran into this problem once a while ago. The customer needs to register the
email account with a (payed) Swisscom account, i.e. an ADSL subscription or
maybe even a usual phone line. Swisscom claims this to be the only way to
verify a customer and to be able to block him or her in case of spamming or
a virus problem.

Hello to all,
I have a Problem and 2 Question, i found a Document by Swisscom (only in
German) with the Name "schnittstelleneigenschaften_de.pdf" ther are a lot
of information and links to ETSI ... But now my first Problem ther is a
"Supervisory tone" called Spezialsummton 2 (special dial tone) with this
Tone levels and cadences
Cadence : 0,5 s on / 0,05 s off
Frequency : 425 Hz +/- 15 Hz
Level : -6.2 bis - 19.7 dbm
Can somewhere say me when this special dial tone 2 is playing by Swisscom ?
My 2nd Question or Problem is in the same Document there are talking about
MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) and ther link to a ETSI Document wehre ther
describe when and how to send a FSK signal when the telephone ring to
notice on the display that the customer has a message on his voicemail. But
ther dont say with dial tone the customer need to listen if ther is a
message on his voicemail. Do somewehre know with dialtone i need to play if
ther is a message on his voicemail that he know he need to listen his
voicemail if his phone has no symbol to show the MWI Symbol.
