Hi all, Since I gave up on my business, I have more than 20 quality desks and close to 40 chairs to give away for free! Plus one luxury flipchart. I really mean it, all that stuff can be had for _free_! Only catch is: You need to come and pick it up either today (Friday) at Brauerstrasse 97 in St. Gallen. Everything that's not gone by this eve will be hauled off by the brocki or thrown away :-( Desks and chairs are disassembled already for quick and easy transport. Nuts and bolts for reassembly included. We have a large elevator and a loading bay if you come by truck... Desks are 150x75x72 in size with a robust 40mm white/pale grey wooden plate and adjustable dark grey steel feet. Chairs are of the simple type but with a flexible back rest. I already had some very interesting interviews with CTO's and IT Managers from many companies. They do believe that the internet and technology today is mature enough. But when I ask them about their opinion on that topic, they mostly refer to their network professionals, since they hold a key role on technical decision of such matter. My goal is to reach as many network engineers, heads of telecommunication, CTO's, etc. as possible. So pros like you and I responsible for planning, engineering and/or maintaining their company's intranet. Old functional hardware - where does it best go?

Hi, So, interrupting the summery silence on this list a bit, and it might not be entirely swinog-appropriate... but... I was doing some sorting out of various things and realized that I amassed too many old unused computers and various components that are still in full functional order, but not very useful to use due to their oldness, powerconsumption and simply as they have been replaced with better ones. As such, I am asking if somebody knows what the best way is to get effectively rid of various things like a full functioning (network,video,audio) p100 (DEC multia), a p200 (small tower), a dual p2-266 (tower), a dual p3-600 (qube case), nslu2's and then an assorted list of other things like cd drives etc. What is the best way to go with this kind of stuff? Trash is an option, but it is not like these things are small ;) Greets, Jeroen

Pro / Contra Backup MX?

Heya Swinog We have business customers with an own mailservers asking us to provide a backup MX for their mailserver. Usualy we deny such request, because such a backup MX would bounce all spam which cannot be relayed, and anyway, the sending server usualy queues the email usualy about the same amount of time a backup mx would queue it. So we see not advantage, but a big disatvantage. Now some of our customers complain that 'all other ISP' offers such services. So I wanted to know your opinions: - Why would business customers _need_ their ISP to operate a backup MX for them? - Why can you avoid the disatvantage to generate a shitload of bounces when operating ab backup MX? - Is it true, that most ISP offer this kind of service?
