Hi Swinog-20 Attendees from Bern, My colleague and I will attend Swinog-20 and we like to couchsurf on our trips. We had great experience in the past and so I thought, why don't we do techy-courchsurf. Root Zone DNSSEC Deployment Technical Status Update 2010-05-17 This is the seventh of a series of technical status updates intended to inform a technical audience on progress in signing the root zone of the DNS. CHANGE IN DEPLOYMENT SCHEDULE The date for the publication of the root zone trust anchor and the distribution of a validatable, signed root zone originally planned for 2010-07-01 has been changed. This final stage of root DNSSEC deployment is now scheduled to take place on 2010-07-15. The schedule change is intended to allow ICANN and VeriSign an additional two weeks for further analysis of the DURZ rollout, to finalise testing and best ensure the secure, stable and resilient implementation of the root DNSSEC production processes and systems. Prior to 2010-07-15 the U.S. Department of Commerce (DoC) will issue a public notice announcing the publication of the joint ICANN-VeriSign testing and evaluation report as well as the intent to proceed with the final stage of DNSSEC deployment. As part of this notice the DoC will include a public review and comment period prior to taking any action. This change has been reflected in the deployment plan and other documentation, and updated documents will be published at <http://www.root-dnssec.org/>. Internet connectivity maps for 2000 from Sunrise and (gasp) Nextra

For the presentation I'm building for the next SwniNOG meeting, I'm trying to find old Internet connectivity maps from back in 2000. Unfortunately Google has failed to provide me with the source to that data. I'm specifically looking for some from Sunrise and Nextra that that era. If someone still has them in their archive folder, please unicast them to me, to not spoil the "fun". Thanks Thomas

Since the beginning of March, we seem to have been having trouble sending SMS'es via this service-number - judging from the phone-bill, the connection IS established, but then times out after 64 seconds and no message is sent. Has anyone else been having such problems? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (9.7°C)

Hi there! - name resolution fails - ping times to some test systems normally at 5ms are now 40ms+ - CC clients already calling in here. Anyone heard something? PublicACTA in Switzerland

Dear all, as most of you probably know, ACTA (the "Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement") which is currently being negotiated is (despite its name) likely to seriously impact the internet. For example, from the draft text that has been published in April [1], we see that a provision has been suggested that would require participating countries to give their courts the authority to issue an "interlocutory injunction ... against an intermediary whose services are being used by a third party to infringe an intellectual property right." [1] https://www.ige.ch/fileadmin/user_upload/Juristische_Infos/e/acta_text_for_… In other words, if this suggested text becomes international law, it implies that copyright holders can get injunctions against ISPs to prevent the illegal distribution of their content via the ISP's networks. The draft Agreement even explicitly requires the participating countries to make the "enforcement procedures" so that they "permit effective action" against copyright infringement that takes place via the internet. At the last round of negotiations (which took place in New Zealand in April) a group of activists and InternetNZ (a large provider) organised a parallel event "PublicACTA" in the same venue as the ACTA negotiations, with the purpose to inform the public and elicit discussions, see http://publicacta.org.nz Apparantly this event was a big success. They're suggesting that what they did could be continued with an event in a similar spirit here in Switzerland where the next round of negotations is planned to take place (probably in Geneva, sometime in June, we don't know the exact date yet).
