Does anyone know what happend to skype today?
I think Skype has a bigger Problem. Today morning at 8 h UTC it was worked.... 1 hour later it was down again... And the MSG on the homepage wasn't well. Greetings Xaver

I love the verry old Swisscom Relay "Telefonzentale". (ratter... ratter... ratter...) This are working and working and working. The modern Computersystem. was going down everytime...

People starts to understand why the call prices are not the same between the two services. Reliability is also one factor that has its price...
But I would not be as definitive as Xaver, probably the issue is not related to the modern computer systems but to the service provider itself (young Skype vs old old Telco).

Sorry Yann, It isn't only the difference between Skype and Telco. Whe have had internal an old TVA (mechanic). Since 1 Year we have a Siemens Hicom system. The old is now running by my brother. and it is working fine. (since 10 years now) The Hicom, has everytimes problemes. Sometime the Phones doesn't ring etc.
I wan't say all computersystems are garbisch. But the Software on many Systems are not verry good tested. You see self. Update on a router... Router is down. Manufacter says: "Sorry we have an error in the Software".
You re righte. All products must be cheaper.. But you see... With cheaper Products you will have many troubles.

We moved to an Aastra box just before Christmas last year. Not a big one, 10-12 extensions. Before then end of January I had shifted everything to a box running Asterisk. Far more flexible.

My grandfather was working for the good old PTT and had a real Willy's Jeep. My mother often told me the story of cold winter nights where her father went out of the house to some PBX in the mountains and clean the relay contacts using some kind of sandpaper.
Also the good old days had their problems :-)

I started to collect the number of connected useres since yesterday evening and show the evolution over the past 24 hours...not looking good...Before the outage, the average of connected users was between 4 and 6 million at any time of the day...
