Hi there,
We're looking for small IP DSLAMs for G.SHDSL(.bis) and ADSL2+. We need about 16-24 Ports in 1 Rack Unit (or a modular system), Ethernet Uplink (GE / FE), dot1q, etc.
Does anyone know a suitable product that fits our requirements with a good cost-performance ratio?
We are already using ZyXEL IES 1000 with modules and IES 2000 (which are no longer sold by ZyXEL). The IES 1000 with SAM-1216-22 in G.SHDSL.bis mode delivers just 16 Ports in 1 Unit (2 modules for 3900 CHF each) and is due to this to expensive. Also the IES5000 is to big and expensive for our small PoPs.
Do you recommend the G.SHDSL.bis or should we stay with G.SHDSL (4096 per line)?
Thanks and best regards Marco Fretz
Hello,
I'm not able to use my registration for Swinog as a business meeting has come up on the 29th September. I know that registration is already filled up so this is your opportunity to attend if you weren't able to sign up. Under the new rules I have 5 days (I certainly assume 5 business days) to pay for this registration or it will be forfeited. This would mean payment is due and this ticket scalping deal has to be closed by Wednesday. You pay the fee and I edit my inscription with your name and organization.
It seems that after five days I'm going to be responsible to pay my 50 bucks weather I can come or not. So I'm going to pay on time (unless someone else would like to take over the registration) because I'm responsible for it. That means that if someone doesn't take me up on my offer the seat will stay empty. That seems really unfortunate to me and I'm not sure that is what the new rules are meant to accomplish, but that looks like the way this could shake out.
If you are interested send me a mail off-list. The first response will get it. So please, take this thing off my hand. It would be better that there are 99 at the social event than 100. ;-)

hi jon,
yes, but this will work until i press the 'Delete Registration' button in our admin interface. after this magic button the registration is defintive expired and cannot be undone.
normally we press this button, after we receive emails from people, that they cannot attend, and then it's not possible to change anything, because the registration disappears but the invoice remains. but since you registered AND sent us THE SAME DAY the email that you cannot attend, i've left your place until we start reminding the people that the invoice is open.. ,-)

To be honest, that sounds exactly like what should have happened here. But in that case, I should no longer be responsible to pay. I'm sorry but that really would be the fair way to handle this situation. Fair to me and fair to the list. Your delete button could also send an email to the list to inform everyone that a registration slot is open.

jon,
yes, i halfway agree with you.
To be honest, that sounds exactly like what should have happened here.
thats right.
But in that case, I should no longer be responsible to pay.
nope, see registration terms. if you reserve a hotel room / buy flight tickets there's also a non-refund policy. i think we've clearly enough stated for the policies in our mails / registration.
I'm sorry but that really would be the fair way to handle this situation. Fair to me and fair to the list. Your delete button could also send an email to the list to inform everyone that a registration slot is open.
there's alway space for improvement. but we're performing a cleanup and when there's space we will inform via list. we've having a waiting list, in case you really want to sign up, you can drop an email to swinog-core [at] swinog[dot]ch and we're putting you on the list. as I said: there's always space for improvement...

I read the terms and then clicked submit and you are within your rights but as a self-governed, self-policed, non-profit organization I would think that Swinog would be a little bit cooler than an airline or a hotel chain.
