fw change on bluewin adsl accounts today?

Hello, Still trying to reach the swisscom/bluewin support since 10 minutes (and the robot keeps telling me "voraussichtliche warte zeit: 4-5 minuten" all the time), so I guess it quicker if I ask here as well. It's a simple problem: I manage a few intranet boxes (mail/webproxy) connected to the net via standard bluewin adsl lines. Everything was fine the last years until today. Remote access via ssh (NAT on the router). Since today: no way to connect any of the hosts (about 5) : ports for ssh and http seems to be closed, while some of the IP are still pingable. Maybe somebody around knows about this thing? For example: maybe they activated a firewall this night on all customers lines to prevent virus/worms problems? (I don't have a bluewin line myself, so it's hard to debug remotely) . SwissIX: 10Gig Plattform now active

Dear all, SwissIX finally reached the summit: the 10Gig ports on the new RX-8 plattform of Foundry Networks (sponsored by SWITCH and Init7) are now active. ISP in Baden?

Hi all A friend of me is searching a good isp in baden (PLZ 5400). The problem is it doesn't exist a list or anything, where you can see who is providing internet access in this area. He is looking for the following: - Min 1.5Mbps upstream - DNS hosting - Web hosting - Mail hosting, at least 15 adresses - Static IP-Address/Range with rev. DNS - No ADSL Anyone know a good offer/ISP? Thanks for any infos Peter Baumann

Any hints to some other good products ? > > Have a nice day! > > -olivier Oliver, For temperature it all depends on how many positions you wish to monitor, perhaps the cheapest (In terms of time plus cost) is solution which is offered by Distrelec, look it up on their site, it has article number 866230. For about 420.- CHF you will get a little box capable with 4 sensors which are accesable via SNMP. If you need more than that, you will ether need a serious appliance or do it yourself. If you decide to DIY, RS232 is your friend. With solutions like this: http://www.phanderson.com/ you could monitor almost unlimited number of temperature and humidity positions but BE CAREFUL with the bus length, we have run into some serious issues near high powered cables. You can also easily monitor any kind of relays based sensors just by connecting the RX and TX of RS232 to relays ends and periodically checking port for echos, this way stuff like reading out smoke detectors with relays modules or "water sensor" (2 naked cables separated by paper) are peanuts to do. It is also possible to check for airflow this way, you could construct the little relays which bends over and connects while airflow is present and opens up when it is not. This needs a space with STRONG airflow to be consistent though. A/C voltage is an interesting one, I was looking for a while for some kind of "energy meter" which would allow readout of info via RS232, so we could measure real power consumption vs load ratio but I could not find any. Easiest way to do this stuff is to read out UPS ratios, most "smart" UPSes support that in one or another way. You can read all info and present it via SNMP for later analysis, we use net-snmp with embeded perl, I can send you sample of our module if you wish, it is fairly simple. I would be very interested by ideas regarding detailed airflow readout, it was always interesting me but I could not find any easy solution, only those big "weather stations" which I could not install into any of out airpipes. Bluewin email problem?

Latency problems to Lambdanet?

Good morning We have a few gamers among our customers. They complain that they have latency problems to their favourite gameservers hosted @ lambdanet: 79.133.42.114 78.143.13.126 193.192.58.122 So I put the customer and those servers in our smokeping tool. They show the problem is not on the customer side, but on the server side. Latency to all of those game servers increases to 60ms every evening. So I also put the lanbdanet router ip into smokeping. Same problem there. Peering is via TIX - no problem with the bandwidth usage. Those gamers pretend the latency problem only occurs from our network and not from others like bluewin. Do others also experience latency problems to lambdanet in the evenings?
