Dear SwiNOGers
Thank you for a great day, lots of input and your support!!
We don't have yet the confirmation for the Gurten but don't want to let you wait any longer :-P
Save the date for SwiNOG #29 - 15.10.2015
We'll keep you posted.
I wish you a save trip home and looking forward to seeing you soon.
Br
Simon

P.S. This is no CFP but that doesn't mean that you can't already submit Ideas :)
Dear Core Team,
On behalf of the community I would like to thank you for putting together another great Swinog event.
Re save the date: not sure whether you really want to have Swinog in the middle of most autumn school holidays. Please reconsider Oct. 15. Many of us have families...
Thanks,
Fredy/Init7

Big thanks too!
Or, we could finally come with our families and let them have fun with the little train and the other games in the park ;)
My wife and children wonder since years why I wake up so early and what the hell I could be doing in Bern all day.

Dear Core Team,
I join Fredy and Nico to thank you for this great meeting!
About the next meeting, due to the difficulty in finding sponsors and also people motivated to make a presentation, perhaps should we ask ourselves if one meeting a year instead of two is not a better solution? I am not against two meetings a year, it's just a suggestion to open the discussion.
Concerning the school holidays, Fredy is right, but if we take all Switzerland the autumn holidays start mid-Sept. (Bern for example) until 1st November (Valais,Tessin), so it's not easy to be fair for everyone. Public holidays schedules are here: http://www.edk.ch/dyn/11707.php

Hi community,
I double Jerome's, Nicolas and Fredy's congrats. Thank you very much for putting this great meeting together. And thank you very much for joining!
due to the difficulty in finding sponsors
Working on it. Goal should be to get a regular sponsoring set up from Brocade twice a year.
people motivated to make a presentation
This is again a generation and gender problem. IMHO us old buggers are having concerns presenting about an topic which has been shared already at Swinog-0xx back in 20xx bla bla bla... There are a lot really nice networking tools around the globe and I'm sure we don't know everything about networking at all.
Regarding generation and gender: My outtake of yesterday's discussion: I'll contact Uni Bern (through Chris), HSLU, ZHAW and ETH ZH to somehow get the SwiNOG-website / sticker / summary / whatsoever to the IT students hoarding. I'm convinced that every IT student degreed has written a nice bachelor thesis with some very nice and interesting findings - which he or she is perfectly willing to share with the community. Vesna from RIPE NCC agreed to share their experiences with IT students with me - and I'll share back with the community.
IMHO this would help to solve both of SwiNOG's upcoming problems: youth / next generation engineers and gender
We, the community, need to be very careful with the topics and mix presented as vendors and sponsors (sorry to say!) are very much interested into getting their investments back. And this is good! One or two vendor (related) topics might be ok, but sharing experiences, as mentioned e.g. by Aarno, will give the community much more power and drive.
Hey, we run the networks! Shall procurement take care of for how to get our playstations to us!
Take care, we'll see around,
Emanuel Tel. +41 79 440 83 90
PS:
Concerning the school holidays
I'm not having children, so October 15th would work perfectly. Can we have a democratic vote? ;) just kidding... :P :P

Hi everyone,
Me too: Thanks for organizing SwiNOG #28 and the BEER.
As for the presentation part: I'm willing to give some more "hands-on-like" talks, like introducing a tool, script, helper or a brand new tool from the open-source land. For the next time I could prepare a presentation about VyOS, including a short demo and some getting started steps. My goal is to have presentations after which every geek can go home and try it out by themselfes (know how and where to start). Most likely I'll be on holiday at 2015-10-15 =( So this presentation would the be held at SwiNOG #30
Regarding the website: Yes, the website needs definitvely a refresh. I'll ask around if someone would be willing to sponsor a refreshed site (I have contacts to quite a few web agencys).
And last but not least regarding the number of participants: We will for sure inform our CommunityRack.org members of this nice event =)
Cheers, Tobias
