Hallo zusammen,
Gibt es irgendwo ein Script bei denem man einen Speedtest auf einen Server machen kann. Der Test müsste auch bei schnellen leitungen >50 Mbit funktionieren.
Merci und Gruss Xaver
If you have Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 disks from 2008 or 2009 you should
be very concerned. These disks have a faulty firmware and also the disk
surface is problematic. Sector errors are developed very quickly and the
firmware will fall on its face.
The symptoms is a 7200.11 disk that either isn't detected by the BIOS
anymore (BSY busy error) or reports itself as 0GB in size (0 LBA zero error).
Sometimes the disk shows up again and can be accessed for a few moments and
a couple of megabytes and goes away again with media error or BSY busy.
The failure rates of 7200.11 are reported to be as high 40-50%. And even
if it ran for weeks or months doesn't mean it wont have the problem.
Quite to the contrary. It most likely develop the one of the errors soon.
Claudio lost a number of disks in his raid array and I just lost the one
from my desktop computer.
Anyway, here are my recommendations:
1) Check whether you have any Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 with 500/750/1000/1500GB
in your servers or desktops
2) If you have any, then backup the data *right now* to some safe disk or media
3) Replace the 7200.11 as soon as you can with some other brand and model,
even if the Seagate tool/website says you disk is not affected
If you already have lost a 7200.11 and still have the disk or if it happens
from now there is a way to recover your data. Do *not* do the firmware update
that is recommended by Seagate. The recovery process is complicated and involves
accessing the disk controller through a debug port and get the firmware into
debug mode. All the nasty details in [1] and [2]. You have to cautious with
the procedure though. There are some commands shown in the thread that should
*not* be executed or further data loss may happen. Read up to page 35 of the
forum and only then start your own attempts. "avico" is the guy to look for
his posts.
I've done the recovery on two disks successfully, including one that had many
fatal sector errors. So if you've got a bricked 7200.11 I've got a working setup
and may be able to help you quickly to recover your data.

Hi Guys
Do you know anything about the green migrations from copper to cablecom DSLAMs in central Switzerland? Or did I miss cablecom / green acquisition?

Dear all,
Init7 AS13030 is leaving Equinix Zurich Exchange aka TIX by Thursday, Jan 7,
2010. Please deconfigure any BGP sessions with the following IP addresses:
194.42.48.10
194.42.48.16
2001:7f8:c:8235:194:42:48:10
2001:7f8:c:8235:194:42:48:16
We continue to peer on various other exchanges such as SwissIX, DE-CIX etc.
and are also open for private interconnects. Please see our details at
http://as13030.peeringdb.com/ and contact peering at init7 dot net if you
think we should peer elsewhere.
Many thanks for peering over all these years - I believe Init7 AS13030 got
connected 1999 or 2000 to TIX Telehouse Internet Exchange. This was the time
when a Cisco 2900 switch took all the load of the "big peering switch
fabric" and the v4 routing table was as small as 60000 routes.
Best regards,
Fredy Künzler

Hello List
Does anybody know if CC takes care about their bots? Do they detect them
and remove them from the net?
We have many CC customers complaining that their mails go to our spam
folder. This is because their IPs sent
mails to honeypots of our SPAM Filtering supplier.
Regards, Stefan
Hi
Anybody else having problems sending larger (>500 KB) mails to bluewin
today? One of the mailservers seems to be down at times
(mxzhh.bluewin.ch) and to the others I'm having a hard time getting
larger e-mails through...
Cheers,
Mike

Hoi,
At home I have a cablecom consumer connection and it broke yesterday
at around 11pm. I tried to call the 0800 668866 hotline but it seems
it's .. well, hot :) because I get network busy when calling and every
now and again I can traverse the call center menu but phone calls hang
after a few minutes (before I speak to a human).
Perhaps others have seen troubles in the Eden of Cablecom? Symptoms
are: dhcpd at 62.2.28.44 gives out net-10 (10.151.169.44) and if I
change my local mac I get another rfc1918 address. The head is up and
I see arp traffic on the ethernet, but otherwise IP is not possible.
Cool hack-fact: until I reset the modem this morning, established
traffic (by pf statefull firewall on my home router) was live and
kicking, just new sessions would not be established. I'm pretty sure
cablecom is at fault, but I can't seem to reach them to talk.
Can somebody confirm? Are there other contacts I can try?
Groet,
Pim

Hello, Pim,
Test this remove your Modem for min. 15 Min. from CC Network.
( HF Cable and Power) After 15 Minutes reboot them. If it
doen't work the CC has a Problem in the DHCP Authoisations
Database for your Modem.
The Adress 10.151.169.44 is an internal System Adress. Every
Modem receive an internal Adress like 10.X.x.X But the modem
is coneccting to Dogsis and if your modem are authoisated you
will receive a PA Adress of CC DHCP Pool. For the PC or Router.

Hello
It's again about two weeks we wait for the UPC Austria Mailserver Techs to
solve a problem. Unfortunately UPC Austria seams to have fallen deaf again,
so I hope some techs from CC or UPC Austria read this list and could try to
find out what goes wrong with solving that problem.
I had a tech from Austria telling me they had found the reason why they are
mailbombing our customers.
After the Mail 'DATA Termination' according to: rfc2821
Section: 4.5.3.2 Timeouts
A sending Server should wait 10 Minutes for the OK.
UPC Austria has reduced that timeout to something under 90seconds.
Our Servers do check for Spam and Viruses during that Data Termination phase
so the can reject such emails on the fly.
90 seconds just is not long enough for big emails from CC customers hitting
our servers when they are a bit busy.
So UPC keeps resending those big emails filling up our disks and the mail
quotas of several of our customers.
I doubt we are the only ISP which since is being mailbombed...
So if somebody from UPC Austria or Cablecom who could do something is reading
this list, please tell the responsible mail techs that the problem still
persists and that I'm still waiting for feedback.
We tell all our affected customers to tell the sender (which are Cablecom
customers) to contact their customer hotline, but we get feedback that the
cablecom customer hotline does not manage to get that problem solved either.
Kind regards
Benoit Panizzon

Hi all.
For a test, we need a version of Solaris 8, but since it is EOL,
it is not downloadable anymore. Does someone still have the ISOs
laying around, so that I could grab a copy?

Just a quick info: Init7 had to migrate the ML server.
Some stuff is not yet really working, but they are working hard on it.
So, if your mail is not going thru, please be patient ,-)
(and yes: this is also a test-mail)

Dear swinoggers
Does anybody of you know if it is possible to setup a static route on a
THOMSON TG787v (VTX)? (And if I would of course appreciate to know how...)
I just got of the phone with vtx customer support, and after trying to
explain what a static route is for the last 15 minutes I gave up...
