Dear colleagues, We are in the process of evaluating “cloud" firewall solutions such as FortiVM. The promise of these virtual appliances looks interesting and it seems like a great fit given our current infrastructure is based off of Fortigate physical appliances. Nonetheless, I can’t help but think that given the virtual appliance nature of these solutions there could be a number of limitations to it. Has anybody evaluated this solution or is running in production ? Any feedback would be welcome. Also for our sales friends, if you can provide us a competitive quote off-list we’re interested as the pricing we’ve received so far is a bit steep. PI address space needed

Hi, currently we (local.ch) are hosted in two different datacenters, each with a dedicated uplink. In order to improve the reliability and to dissolve single points of failure I want to do a proper BGP setup. One step of the whole thing is getting a PI space. As I do not want to become a LIR (too tedious, too much work) we want to buy a /24 for our setup. Can anyone point me into the right direction (or even sell a /24 ;))? Greetz, Andre

Bestätigter Event Titel: Bau dir dein eigenes 3D Virtual Reality Headset im FabLab Datum: Mittwoch 15 April 2015 17.15 - 21.45 Gleitend Location: FabLab Bern, Eigerstrasse 12, 3007 Bern Organisation: IEVS HackLab, Romeo Wie bereits vor mehr als einem Monat angekündigt können Besucher an diesem IEVS HackLab Treff ihre eigene 3D Virtual Reality Headsets im FabLab bauen und erstellen. Dazu werden wir die Open Source Pläne von verschiedenen Firmen nutzen um mittels Laser Cutter und 3D Drucker die entsprechenden teile für die Headsets zu erstellen um sie dann zu einem ganzen zusammen bauen zu können. Fortgeschrittene und erfahrene Profis die Zugang zu Profi 3D CAD Konstruktions Tools haben können zudem dank den vorhandenen Open Source STEP, ProE und IGES Konstruktionspläne und den verfügbaren Elektronik Schaltplänen und Elektronik Bauteilelisten ihre eigene Next Generation Virtual Headset für den Consumer Market bauen, ausdrucken und zusammen löten. Sofern ihr Probleme mit der Organisation der spezifischen Materialien wie die Biconvexe Spherische Linsen für das CardBoard VR Headset habt lässt mich dies per Mail wissen damit ich diese für euch für einen unkosten Beitrag von 10.- Franken organisieren kann. Für die Benutzung der teuren Maschinen im FabLab werden entsprechende Einführungs Kurse die auf der http://fablab-bern.ch/nachste-kurse/ Website aufgeführt und gebucht werden können vorausgesetzt. Glücklicherweise haben diverse Leute inklusive mich selbst beim IEVS HackLab diese Kurse absolviert und können damit bei der Verwendung und Nutzung der Maschinen aushelfen. Gegebenenfalls wird es womöglich auch einen zweiten Teil am Abend ab ca. 19:30 Uhr geben indem Profi Software Entwickler aus Bern einen kleinen Vortrag halten werden über wie man 3D Virtual Reality Apps mittels der Unity Engine für Smartphones erstellt. Der FabLab Raum wird für jeden von 17.15 Uhr bis 21.45 Uhr am 15. April 2015 gleitend offen sein.
