Hi there,
I don't understand the link between blocking a website and a SMTP access... Nobody block a website because of spamming.
Cheers

Hello dear SWINOG members
I have a friend, that has a Club Music related Newsletter with over 15000 Email Adresses with double opt in and out. On the 12. July a little ISP has sent a request to hostpoint, regarding my friend and his spaming activity.
The ISP told Hostpoint, that www.housestation.ch was blocked by some ISPs. As i know, sunrise has never blocked the Homepage of housestation. I think that the complaint from the ISP is a "private hate" against my friend.
Therefore i wanna ask, if you can tell me if you (ISP) are blocking this Homepage, and if yes, how can we find out what the reason of the blocking is.
Also we have complained at Hostpoint regarding the forward of the complaint without having the related Mailheader of the Spammail sent by my friend. The other thing is, that the Spammail in question was sent out on May. But my friend has sent out the Newsletter trough hostpoint the first time on the beginning of june.
Thanks you for your help and feedbacks.
Sincerly,

If a advertisements for a website are made via spam, it could make sense to block access to that site. In any case, that block would have to be done by the hosting provider of the site.

It is very effective to block emails containing links to websites being spamvertized.
see http://antispam.imp.ch/05-uribl.php
Of course if somebody is wrongly blocked we are glad to remove him. And no... housestation.ch is not in our blacklist.

If a client of yours abuse of one of the services you provide him, it can be legitimate to prevent him from using any of them.
When the resources sold are web space and email, spaming may be a reason to block web access too, not only smtp.
