Hello all, First of all, I'm not to well known on this list although I'm reading it for some time now. For this I probably shouldn't be ranting arround here. But one thing I keep *wondering* and annoying about is the fact that the swiss networking elite seems not to be able to configure their mailers and mail facilities to correctly and politely interfer with a mailinglist. OK, its requires skills and of course some technical magic to configure something as complex as a mailclient correctly. But for all those who are unwilling or unable to fullfill this job on their own there *is* in fact a solution to this problem. It is (astoundingly enough) possible to use more than one email account for exchangeing electronic mail. So I dare to kindly ask those unable to go without something evil like an *autoresponder* to switch their mailinglist subscriptions to another address where they do not need to inform the senders about their holidays? Hi all, does anyone have any experience with e-mail protection appliances? Ideally this would be a standalone box, serving as an ISP's SMTP relay, with the following functions: -- Detect spam coming from the ISP's customers, and automatically throttle the bandwidth or block SMTP for a given IP address. -- Alert the administrators when the spam or viruses are originating from ISP's network -- Manage the incoming email, and throttle the bandwidth for external IP addresses that send too many SMTP requests -- Built-in antivirus would be a plus -- management web interface with privilege levels -- interesting would be to have per-user spam filtering settings for incoming email... Your advice in choosing or avoiding vendors and solutions is very welcome. Also there should be service providers that outsource such activities. For this reason I am closing all these tickets as resolved, and requesting that you recheck the database before either re-opening the tickets or logging a new one. Please do not respond to this ticket unless the DB lookup ( http://www.sorbs.net/cgi-bin/db ) shows you are still listed. Please do not respond to this ticket, or create a new ticket if you are receiving blocked messages where the DB lookup page ( http://www.sorbs.net/cgi-bin/db ) shows you are not listed, the blocks have been removed and will take a little while to update. howdy, mi culpa... from previous swinog the signal was good but shaping made the speed too slow. we said we would raise the shape speed. this event the speed was good (at least quite a few guys told me) but the signal was not so great everywhere in the room (even though we checked it the day before). we took the feedback yesterday onboard about the signal and will install an AP in the room by next meeting.
