No offense, but did you ever call the helpdesk of your company? I had the joy to do so, and I'd rather have sex with a cheese grater, than calling that number again. cost of class-C IP block

Cheers I need to know the approximate cost (and maybe also the exact procedure) to get hold of a class-C IP address block. according to RIPE, they "sell" the IP-addresses to members only, which seem to be ISP's (don't know if an individual can sign up as member). and according to some search I made on google, RIPE itself doesn't charge for the blocks, but the provider may charge the cost (administration etc.) to the customer. basically, I need the IP range for a client, and they're already attached to Swisscom for other purposes (IPSS). of course you'll believe me that I was connected to approx. 10 different people all over switzerland, only to hear "the corresponding account manager will get back to you to quote a price". that was 2 days ago, and now the line is busy (ironically, I thought that phone companies can manage not to have a line busy on a service center, but to be able to tell you exact waiting time, re-route your call to a free callcenter agent etc., but that's another story). so can anyone tell me how much 255 public IP addresses would approximately cost? thanks regards Umbi -- http://www.bigbrotherawards.ch - privacy

hi umbi > so can anyone tell me how much 255 public IP addresses would > approximately cost? well, ip addresses don't cost anything. i assume that you want get PI space ,-) you may charge an administrative fee for all the administrative purposes. it takes some time to fill in all the required forms and write the request. some providers are requesting money for this efford (it can take up to several hours of work - depending how much you want and now many questions RIPE will send to the provider - if something is bad). normally, if you switch your network and ask for own ip space some providers are doing this for free (included in setup fee for connectivity or so). so, lets say the price is from 0.- to several hundreds or thousands ;-) greetings -steven

Hello Seems our whole range was blocked by Cablecom -- as Dialup-Range. Well, we have none. zero. zilch. No dialups. No dynamic IPs at all. Anyone from Cablecom here to care to comment & fix? Policy of blocking spam vs. flagging

Hello all Our customers strictly want to get their mail - so we prefer flagging over blocking. Looking around in my server logs (and postmaster accounts) makes me feel that most ISPs today are much more in blocking. Don't they all have huge problems with people complaining? We already have...
