ahem... that's a long list...
I'm just wondering what the community thinks, how much should one earn in such a position with all those skills and requirements? Or, if you're the man for this position, how much do would you expect as salary?
I'm just wondering about our 2006/2007 'job market status' ;-)
Feel free not to answer :P

Hey Pascal
I'm just wondering about our 2006/2007 'job market status' ;-)
Or may it be that you have your salary negotiations next week and need some indications...? ;)

hi Pascal,
if you're seriously interested, we can discuss it off the list :)
by the way, we're also looking for a good partner software development company, probably somewhere outside Switzerland, as we need to fit a certain budget :)
cheers, stan
No one had the guts to write some numbers until now? Let's heat up that discussion a little with meat on the bone...
It depends on the location, age and company size.
In Zuerich, mid-sized company I'd say:
Age 25+ minimum 95'000 per year Age 30+ minimum 105'000 per year etc.
I guess it's impossible to have all those skills when younger than 25 (please correct if I'm wrong)
As we all know, the salaries in the rest of Switzerland are a little lower because the living cost is also lower, so I'd say deduct some % for a different region in CH.
Also for smaller companies, the salaries might be lower, but the "feel-good" factor is higher, which compensates quite a lot.
Since we all know, that the current job situation for IT techies is very good, I'd say, that those figures are the absolute minimum and you should try to get more - because there will be worse years and you'll be stuck on the salary you negotiated in the good years... The larger the company, the more you should ask, because they're the ones that will fire you anyway, when times get worse...
So much rants for now :-)
Cheers, Viktor

I can't comment on this particular position, as I'm not the one who decides :)
But in general, you're right. This position is supposed to be for an experienced person, supposedly of age 30-35, and the figures you've mentioned are quite right.

Pascal, that is what most people call "Over qualified" :)
Nevertheless, how much you get paid doesn't really matter, it's about how much fun you have. The funding helps a lot in the equation, but if you get paid loads and you are not having any fun then what's the use of having loads of fun and having to spend all that money to actually have fun?

I Quite agree on that one. But I guess almost everyone around here works because there is a fun part in its work. Another fact is that if the salary is correct, it may be considered as the magic bonus if the work is cool ;)
Ok I may be put into the weird guys list, but some of you guys already know that ...
Ciao Pascal,
I was looking recently for a network engineer with about the same experience and discovered that currently Zürich area is particularly difficult.
I found 2 CCIE's, starting at 140K/13.
The bit that makes it expensive is surely VOIP & MPLS. But most of these guys could be used for design tasks too but one thing I not sure is, if one with this qualification would be interested in a provider operation job ;)
Cheers reza
