Dear all
Please note that Swisscom has activated a new 6rd Border Relay (for IPv6...) that has a new IP address. Please adapt your Linux/Cisco/m0n0wall etc. setups, as the old BR will be turned off in a couple of weeks.
New IP: 193.5.29.1 (6rd.swisscom.com)

However proposals for longer/shorter presentations or presentations whose

Please remember that your presentations should be suitable for a target
audience of technicians from varied backgrounds, working for companies whose
sizes may vary considerably.
To submit a proposal for a presentation, we request that you provide the
following information to <swinog-core at swinog.ch>:
* the name of the presenter (and if applicable your affiliation)
* a working email address
* the name and number of the topic which will contain the presentation
* the title of the presentation
* its expected length (in minutes)
* a short abstract of the presentation (so we know what it is about)
We also welcome suggestions for specific presentations which you feel would
be valuable to the SwiNOG community.
Please be aware that your presentation will be published on the SwiNOG
website after the event. We can publish modified slides if requested - it
might be that some confidential data will be presented by you which are not
intended for publication on the internet.

Yo! out there!
I know this list is more about ISP than TSP, but as we mostly do both and an
informal inter-TSP discussion list does not exist (or did I miss it?) I'm
addessing the swinog list.
We had a couple of our telephony customers asking us if we would do clip-no-
screening (swisscom calls this special arrangement'). Pass on every caller-ID
the customer is sending.
Well, there are use cases where this can be desidered, like a PBX doing a
manual transfer after answering the call, thus opening a second call leg but
with the wish, that the number of the original caller is being transmitted.
But! We already see a lot of abuse with invalid or fake number from other TSP
with no propper outbound screening.
So we would like to make our customers singn an agreement which hopefully
would prevent such.
Swisscom has no such template.
How about the other TSP? Is there one I could use as a template for our
agreement?
Mit freundlichen Grüssen
Benoit Panizzon

For those who don't know yet, Netflix is an online movie rental company
and uses so much bandwidth that they had to push out their own CDN boxes
to ISPs and IXPs.
Their CDN boxes are almost stock FreeBSD 9.1 based, contain some
35 HDDs at 4TB plus a couple of SSDs and push about 15Gbit/s *each*
during the evening hours. They are limited by HDD (seek) bandwidth.

Hi all,
As it is my first post, I'll introduce myself a bit.
I'm Francois, the netadmin from ESL Education SA. We have ~50 remote offices across the world, linked to our HQ in Montreux. For now we use only IP-Plus from Swisscom (100/100) and SDSL links in our remote offices. We'll soon (2014) upgrade everything, like starting working on multihoming in Montreux and we'll see how to make things better for the remote offices. We notably have latency issues (200+ms) with latin america and asia.
So I'm not a network operator, but would greatly benefit from your inputs. Feel free to contact me off-list or send me a SMS when you're around Montreux to have a quick coffee.
I just have a quick question while we're at it :
I have a contact that sometimes work from home in Les Pléiades (above Vevey). It's in the mountains, so as you might imagine, the DSL from Swisscom is far from sufficient. I'm sure there's alternative solutions such as wireless links to the Mont Pèlerin (direct sight), or Rocher de Naye (not too far) ? Maybe satellite ? We're talking about less than CHF 200.- / month.
If anyone provides this or can give me some contacts, that would be great.
Thanks in advance,
Have a great weekend,
Francois

Hi guys
I get reports from customers sending their outgoing mail through
smtp.swisscomdata.ch stating their mail is bounce due to SPF violation.
It seems the IPs of the mailservers processing those messages have
changed recently.
Is there anyone from Swisscom mailserver team who could provide me with
a list of IP of outgoing SMTP servers used to relay mail sent to
smtp.swisscomdata.ch? It appears that IP ranges 46.14.34.0/24 and
46.14.97.0/24 are involved.
I'd like to update the SPF declarations for those customers...
Cheers
